In 90 Days, You'll Wish You Started Today

In 90 days, you'll wish you started today. That can go ahead and be the theme here.

It's been a while since I posted on here, bust I'm back to not only publish some thoughts and updates on my own workout endeavors, but I am not officially a Beachbody Coach again and want to help as many people get and stay fit!

I am currently tackling P90X with some hybrid workouts in place of Plyometrics and Kenpo due to a knee issue I am overcoming. Today was my scheduled day off, but I decided to take a bike ride to keep loose. I tracked over 13 miles in just over an hour. My pace wasn't crazy, but it felt good to get into a nice sweat.

Within the coming days/weeks, I will be starting a video blog via YouTube and attach them onto these posts. They will include my updates and tips on how to stay healthy. I am very excited to help those who want help.

If you don't want help, I am not coming after you. I know that many people who read this cannot look at themselves and say they like what they see. Make the change and end the trend of obesity. There are over 1.5 BILLION overweight people on this planet and that needs to change.

If you want help, ask me. Send me a message on Facebook on my Fan Page. Write me an email. Leave a post on this blog. I don't care if you live down the street or across the country. I am here to help anybody achieve their optimum level of fitness and wellness.

I can almost guarantee that there will be gramatical errors in every single post, but lets be honest, I am a fitness guru, not a author. My job is to get my point across and help people lose weight and stay healthy.

Just know that in 90 days, you'll wish you had started today. It takes one thing to get started, and that is will power. To quote Tony Horton, "Rome was not built in a day, and neither was your body".

Back to Coaching!

Hello again blog world. I'll keep this short and sweet and start getting more together in the coming weeks. I have once again joined Team Beachbody to "End the Trend" and help people lose weight, regain their youth, and feel better about themselves.

I'll start off by saying this; There are a ton of supplements and programs that www.beachbody.com offers to help lose weight and feel younger, but the most important supplement is WILL POWER. The best part about WILL POWER is that it is free!

Please take a look at my youtube, twitter, facebook, and beachbody pages for more information.

P90X2 Base & Back + X2 Ab Ripper

I have not posted in 10 days, but I have still been working out on my fitness. P90X2 has been progressing fantastically. I will be finishing up the halfway point of phase two (2) and I will be extending it to six (6) weeks due to an off schedule week this week. I have been taking care of some pretty exciting "finances" this past week and had to do a lot of negotiating to get the price I wanted on the product I wanted. I will not go into the details of the purchase for personal and privacy reasons.

That all being said, I will be back 110% and in full swing now that I don't have any prior commitments to take care of before or after work.

I can say that the one (1) thing that I am looking forward too would be the Phelon Twists and the Rumble Roller tonight! I am on my way to work now and will be completing the workout at about 6:00PM EST. More info to come then.

Day 55 Photos

The following photos were taken after Day 55 of P90X2. The workout completed was Shoulders, Arms, and X2 Ab Ripper. The program is getting pretty intense and I am thinking about using the alternate bonus workouts next week. I will continue to post photo's of the journey as I am nearing the half way point of this program. Have a great day everybody!

Day 49 X2 Ab Ripper Photo!

BRING IT!

Steven.V.L.

P90X2 Update

Today is another "turning point" day. I am about to go through X2 Base + Back and X2 Ab Ripper for the second time. Last week I got to try it out. This week, I get to pay a lot more attention to my form and the moves as opposed to putting a lot of the focus into actually figuring out what each move looked like.

I suffered a brief injury last week during a soccer game. It was not anything that kept me completely sidelined, but my groin was slightly pulled, so I had to opt out of X2 Plyocide on day two (2) of week one (1) of phase two (2). I was feeling better and completed X2 Plyocide on what could have been my seventh (7th) day of the week. Definitely not at a 100% but within a week, X2 Plyocide will be back where it needs to be, and not on the final day of the week.

Basically, what that all means is that this program is very customizable in the fact that moving around some of the workouts to better fit your schedule is very possible. I would not recommend going too far away from the path, but "life" happens and sometimes a schedule change is necessary. I will be back on schedule tomorrow after X2 Plyocide.

Even though my routine that past two (2) weeks have not been in the scheduled order, all of the workouts have been completed. I will be completing five (5) weeks of phase two (2) to make sure I master, or at least attempt to master all of the moves. I am excited to get into week three (3) and equally excited to finish X2 Base + Back and X2 Ab Ripper today.

To all of those who have been following my journey, I apologize for the delay in posts, but I appreciate your viewing of my blog. The journey has come a long way, but is far from over.

The only other thing that is going on today is the winners of the QUARTERLY BEACHBODY CHALLENGE are being announced today at approximately 3:00PM PST at www.TheBeachbodyChallenge.com

Short Update on Progress - X2 Chest, Back, and Balance.

This workout is what I like to call a "gut check" workout. The incorporation of stability balls and medicine balls for push ups make them much more difficult. My core was absolutely destroyed. The same goes for the pull ups. I can say that this is going to be a process to perfect some of these moves, but it's all about, "Doing your best and forgetting the rest".

The four (4) ball push ups were one of my favorite moves. I increased my reps on that move to 31 reps. I am also looking forward to getting another crack at the "impossible/possible". I will post a video of that next week.

This post is mainly to keep myself on schedule with a much more detailed video/post coming next week.

Day 42 - X2 Back + Base & X2 Ab Ripper WITH PHOTOS

Hello all,

The time has come where the voting for the QUARTERLY BEACHBODY CHALLENGE is over. I will get back to updating my P90X2 Journey. I finished day 42 a few minutes ago and have some photo's to update my current progress.

This workout was very fast paced and completely destroys two (2) of the biggest muscle groups in the body, which are the back and base (using plyometrics). I did a total of 90 pull ups over the course of ten (10) sets with an average of nine (9) full extention pull-ups.

None of the moves, individually, were extremely difficult to perform, but the pace of the workout absolutely killed my back. Some of the pull-ups had different names as those performed in P90X, but were very similar in the movement. There was a big emphasis on keeping the lower half of your body very clean and motionless. (except for the kippy cross fugly pull). Overall, I liked this workout a lot and I am sure my view will be a little bit different next week considering today was my first time through the workout.

Take a look at a few photo's of my P90X2 Journey.

Break 1 - Back
 Break 1 - Front/Side Angle
 End of Workout - Back
 End of Workout Front/Side Angle
End of Workout - Front/Side Angle

Not to "toot my own horn", but if this is what day 42 looks like, than I can only imagine what the next 4 weeks of phase two (2) and the full phase three (3) will do. I am extremely motivated because the challenge and that $1,000 prize I already won. Regardless of the outcome of the Quarterly Beachbody Challenge, I will be pushing play and BRINGING IT 110% every single day to get the most out of these workouts. I don't mean to get ahead of myself, but I would love to start planning what weekend I will be going to L.A. Good luck to all of the other finalists and God bless.

With the final night upon us to vote for the QUARTERLY BEACHBODY CHALLENGE, I have one last chance to capture as many votes as possible to win the challenge. I have shared my story and I am sharing my current P90X2 journey. I have been networking and promoting myself and giving 110% since day one (1) of my beachbody journey and it doesn't end when the voting stops. Please help me, STEVE L win this challenge.

The path that I have chosen to follow is a life changing one. This will be by far the biggest milestone in my journey as of yet.

What I'll Do If I Win the $5,000 And The Trip to L.A.

Independent Beachbody Coach Anne Dovel prompted me with a question today. "What will you do if you win?"

I thought it about it and I realized that I honestly haven't thought about what I wanted to do with it. I am still trying to figure out how to thank all of the people who have been involved in my beachbody journey. I can say with 110% confidence that I am not doing this for the money. I have always thrived on being able to share my story with other people and to motivate anybody no matter what the situation.

In a previous post, I spoke about what fueled me. I feel as if I am the type of person who thrives on others telling me "I can't". I have heard that since day one of my beachbody journey. At first, it was people saying that the program was a joke and it doesn't work. After completing chest, back, and ab ripper x on day 1, I knew that it was not a joke. Once that part of the story was out of the way, there wasn't a single person who thought I was going to complete the program. We all know what happened there.

Now that I've completely taken the title of this post on a tangent, I will now speak about the topic at hand. If I win the trip to LA and the $5,000, it will be another stepping stone in my journey. The trip to LA to see the facilities and to meet some of those people who have inspired me for the past few years will be something that words cannot describe. I already am eternally grateful to every member of the beachbody community. The first thing I would do with the $5,000 would be to take everybody involved out to a thank you dinner. I also want to finish my home gym to better utilize the workouts provided by beachbody. I still live at home and I am looking to purchase my first single family home within the next 12-15 months so that money would definitely help out with that.

I also am very fortunate to have family and friends who care about me. Although most of the times they make my P90X and P90X2 conversations into a joke, I know they mean well and that they are all supporting me in this contest. Thank you all. God Bless and I look forward to seeing Team BeachBody in L.A. (maybe)

I will continue to diligently promote my cause and network with those who I know are incredible influential individuals. Once again, there are not enough words to thank all of those involved in my journey so one gigantic THANK YOU will do for now!

Ever been told you can't do something?? This is what fuels me everyday

To everyone that has come across a beachbody post. My name is Steven Layden and I have been using beachbody products since 2009 and I have undertaken the most extreme transformation imaginable. I was not 300 pounds and I did not lose 150 pounds to reach my goals.

Ever since I was young I was made fun of for being too skinny, too wimpy, too weak, to little, not fast enough, not strong enough. People said, you'll never play football in college, you'll never start a college game, you'll never get strong, you'll never get "ripped", you'll never complete P90X, you won't make it in the infomercial, you won't motivate countless people to reach their goals, you won't discover that everybody has a dream, you won't win anything, you won't do this, that, and the other.

Bottom line is that I did gain muscle mass, I am not wimpy. I am not too weak. I am not to little. I am fast enough. I am strong enough. I did play college football because of P90X. I did start in college and win a conference championship because of hard work, determination, and my drive to succeed and prove others wrong. I use others doubt as my motivation. P90X showed me how to believe in myself. My beachbody coaches, Dale Bramall and Dallas Carter showed me how to "BRING IT". They kept me motivated so I did get ripped. I did complete P90X. I did reach my goals. I did exceed the expectation. I put in the time. I put in the effort. I accomplished my goal.

My name is Steven Layden and I thrive on doubt. I thrive on other people putting me down and telling me I can't do this and I can't do that. I thrive on knowing that I doing what most only dream of. I am in this contest to for the right reasons. I transformed my body into something I could have never imagined.

Please vote for me in THE QUARTERLY BEACHBODY CHALLENGE. Look for STEVE L and show your support. Share this post/status if you were ever doubted, put down, told you weren't good enough.

Preparing for L.A. and $5,000

Just finished up X2 Recovery + Mobility and that was a much needed workout. My body is gearing up for the next phase and I am mentally preparing as well. Not too much to say involving the workout besides that it got the job done.

The real news at hand, besides beginning week six (6) of P90X2, is THE BEACHBODY CHALLENGE. The quarterly challenge, as you all may have seen, began yesterday at 12:00PM PST or 3:00PM EST

I've been speaking with BeachBody King Dale Bramall and Queen Demi Bean and they have both shown their support for me. Check out Dales Page for his shout out to me. Check out Demis Page for her updates and support too!

Also, as stated on my facebook and twitter, I need all the support I can get to win this challenge and get out to LA and take home the $5,000 prize. I already am eternally grateful to beachbody and all of their hard working employees. I cannot even fathom the amount of excitement that would run through me if I win this contest.

Go to http://www.teambeachbody.com/connect/beachbody-challenge/vote/quarterly and vote for me.

Also, if I do win, their will be a gigantic party that I will cover all the costs on. (a little incentive to vote couldn't hurt...hehe)

The Beachbody Challenge + Recovery Week

Tomorrow I am going to be starting my first recovery week of P90X2. My body has taken a beating over the past five (5) weeks and I'm sure that the Recovery + Mobility and X2 Yoga DVD's will help out tremendously. To be honest, the recovery weeks are sometimes harder than the intense workouts that take place over the course of each individual phase.

The lesson I learned with P90X is that resting is just as important as training. I used to think that the more you train, the better you will look and feel. That could not be farther from the truth. Figuring out how far I could take my body was an important lesson I learned early on in P90X and I have perfected it in P90X2 and throughout the past few years of using P90X, Insanity, P90X+, One on Ones, etc...

This next week is the most exciting of all because of THE BEACHBODY CHALLENGE. I have already been chosen as a $1,000 winner for December 2011 BeachBody Challenge for the mens 18-29 age group. Now the Quarterly contest is in full swing and the voting will be going on until next Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Anybody can vote. You just need a Team BeachBody log in. www.BeachBody.com, I Thank You.

www.beachbody.com

That's where it all began. I found myself randomly "googling" P90X a few Summers ago just as a joke and look what has happened since then. My curiosity and determination was paired perfectly when I discovered BeachBody and P90X. This is an absolute dedication to all of those who put all of their time and effort into creating the best fitness programs on the face of the planet.

The problem with most people is that we fail to find that fire that burns inside us. We fail to find ways to motivate ourselves when there is nobody else to tell us, "get up and go". We fail to search within to find the strength to push through the struggles and setbacks.

The solution that has been presented for the world to see. The solution is something that is molded to fit every single individual at every level of fitness. Whether it be the person who is always short on time and uses 10 Minute Trainer or somebody who is determined to challenge themselves to the absolute max with programs like P90X, Insanity, P90X+, and P90X2. There are fun programs such as Hip Hop Abs. There are programs that are geared towards certain body parts like Brazil Butt Lift. Burning fat has never been more straight forward than in Slim in 6 and ChaLEAN Extreme. Chalene will also challenge you with Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire.

All of these programs have been helping people help themselves. Everybody has that ability within to motivate themselves. The faces of BeachBody make it easier to find that motivation. Tony Horton, Shaun T, Chalene Johnson, and Debbie Seibers are the people that we look to for the energy, motivation, and ultimately, the workouts that help us reach our fitness goals.

For me, it was finding the confidence to know that even if I presently struggle with something, there is always a way to improve. "Rome was not built in a day, and neither was your body" That is one of my favorite Tony Horton quotes.

You read all of the success stories and the process was never overnight. You see those individuals who have worked tirelessly for over a year using multiple programs to lose over 50, 100, or even 200 pounds. You see those individuals who are built like string beans and then pack on the muscle over the course of not just a 90 day program, but for years after the completion of that program.

Graduating from one of these programs is one of the most satisfying feelings in the world. On my first "Day 90" with P90X, I did Chest and Back for 3 rounds + Ab Ripper X. I was so pumped on adrenaline, that I kept going until my body absolutely could not go any longer. I got SHREDDED in 90 days and packed on over 6 pounds of muscle. That was just the tip of the iceberg. My story has begun and will take on many chapters in the future.

My story is one of the many told by individuals who BRING IT every single day. I am taking this time to thank you all for providing these products. From the designers, to the producers, to the editors, to those in the programs, to Tony, to Shaun, to Debbie, to Chalene, and so many more, I thank you. You have rewarded me with $1,000 for winning The BeachBody Challenge, but the fact that I live a better life with more energy and determination is something that does not have a monetary value. This company is unique and will be in business for years to come.

P90X2 Week 5 - X2 Core / Trip to L.A. + $5,000

Today I will begin my final week of phase one, which will start off with X2 Core. I feel very energetic and fresh after what the past few days have brought my way. I've been working out almost everyday of my life since 2006 and the time, practice, patience, and effort has all paid off (literally).

As stated in my previous post, I just got awarded with $1,000 for being fit and entering The BeachBody Challenge for December. Now, as we all know, I will have my crack at $5,000 and a trip for two to L.A. Voting will start soon. More details to come on that front.

Not that I wasn't motivated before, but getting recognition by BeachBody just adds so much more fuel to the fire. I will be pushing play everyday and bring my all. The money aside, this has been such an incredible journey and I am just now realizing that the journey has just started. Keep following my story. Keep creating your own. Keep pushing play.

Day 27 X2 Balance + Power

It's just about time to take on, yet again, X2 Balance and Power. At this point in the journey, I am very eager to start phase two, but I know that I have to finish phase one strong in order to progress in the correct manner. I will completing five total weeks of phase one because of the holidays.

I will not be taking any rest days on my final week of phase one just because I want to finish strong and go into the recovery week needing the "break". Time to go workout! I will finish the post right after my workout.

----------------------------
X2 Balance + Power

Just finished up the workout and it was just as difficult as in the previous three weeks. I showed great improvement in almost every move in the workout meaning that I duplicated or exceeded my reps/weight (or both) from previous weeks. That being said, I am ready for some recovery and mobility tomorrow to help loosen up those hot spots and prepare myself for the final week of phase one.

2012 - Day 22 X2 Core

It's been a few days since I've been able to get in a great workout. I just got finished organizing the rest of my P90X2 schedule. I have missed a few days due to the holidays and the fact that I have been sick for the the past three days, but I am starting week 4 today. X2 Core is on tap and I am going to give my best under the circumstances. Just because I am a little under the weather will not stop me.

My schedule this week will go as follows:

Monday - Sick/Rest
Tuesday - Sick/Rest
Wednesday Morning - X2 Core (Day 22)
Thursday Night - Plyocide (Day 23)
Friday Morning - X2 Total Body + X2 Ab Ripper (Day 24/25 - no rest day)
Saturday Night - Yoga or X2 Recovery + Mobility
Sunday Night - X2 Balance + Power

I will be completing one more week of phase one to make it five total. Since there were extra rest days due to the holidays, I want to make sure I get the right amount of time to fully put together my "foundation" before moving into phase 2.
